Services Provided

Complete architecture, process and facility engineering, equipment procurement with program and project management, construction management, and full on-site supervision. Project delivery included feasibility study, site location and selection, process equipment integration and migration, all site installation and equipment start-up.

Design Criteria

Construction of a new medical products manufacturing facility with future expansion capabilities, to produce natural and synthetic castings and bandaging used in the emergency treatment, and extended care medical industry.
  • 85,000 square foot medical products manufacturing plant including three discrete processing lines for manufacturing and packaging, materials and products warehouse, laboratory, office administration and support space
  • Computer controlled high technology continuous process lines for natural plaster of Paris, and epoxy coated cast material production
  • Manufacturing process includes bulk receiving, precision pre-batching, homogeneous mixing, and belt drying
  • Automated blending and drying stations served by solvent recovery and air emissions control systems for ethanol and methylene chloride
  • Equipment migration, procurement and consolidation project combining equipment from 5 countries and 7 plants
  • Energy efficient mechanical plant balancing facility and equipment demand with process and environmental systems demands for steam and hot water, compressed air, chilled and tower water

AMPACET CORPORATION - INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING FACILITY

Design Criteria
  • Construction of a new manufacturing facility with future expansion capabilities, to produce color and additive concentrates used in the production of plastic, films, and fibers
  • 100,000 square foot manufacturing plant including three adjacent structures for manufacturing and packaging, a finished goods warehouse, laboratory, office administration and support space.
  • Computer controlled high technology continuous production lines for both polyolefin and engineering-resins based concentrates.
  • Two high capacity line produces white concentrates based on polyethylene and polypropylene. Smaller line produces black concentrates based on PET and nylon.
  • Manufacturing process includes bulk receiving, precision pre-batching, homogeneous, mixing, hot-melt extrusion, wet pelletizing and fluid-belt drying.

SHAW INDUSTRIES, INC. NEW CARPET MANUFACTURING PLANT
Cartersville, GA

Design Criteria
New carpet manufacturing plant designed to produce carpet for the commercial market. Shaw Industries, Inc. contracted Facilty Group to masterplan the infrastructure for the entire 1,400,000 square foot new facility, and to design and construct the first phase of 650,000 square foot. This new facility when complete will be the world's largest carpet tile production facility.
  • Program Management, Design and Construction Management of 650,000 square foot first phase that will incorporate manufacturing, raw materials and finished goods storage, with plant QA/QC offices and corporate offices.
  • Fast track schedule, with phased equipment move-in and occupancy.
  • Manufacturing plant incorporates the phased transfer of operations from five existing facilities.
  • First phase move-in four months after ground breaking with commercial production two months thereafter.
  • Installation of large volume make-up air systems for process exhaust.
  • Installation of equipment foundations and isolation pads.
